Workstation/Client/Network Installations

All B+B Systems are network capable.  

NEW SERVER (and workstations) INSTALL

The simplest way to set up a new installation is to put the install program (the one you downloaded from the internet) onto the server hard drive.   Run it to install the system on the Server (folder: C:\ Program Files \BB??).   Your server installation is now complete.

If you want to add workstations, go to each workstation and access/open the server hard drive.  (The server hard drive should be "shared".  You can right click on the hard drive from the server to enable sharing).  On the workstation, the server drive will appear as R:, or some other letter you have assigned it.  Locate the same install program and run it.   Install the system in the same location on the server, this time it will be folder: R:\ Program Files \BB??.   Since your server installation is brand new, this installation will simply overwrite the same files you just installed on the server.   In addition, it will install the required files on the workstation C: drive.

        Advantages:
        - Installs required workstation C:\ Windows files
        - Installs a desktop icon on the workstation automatically pointing to the system on R:.

EXISTING SERVER INSTALL - add workstation(s)

To add workstations after you've started using your system (existing system), use the separate workstation install program (see download link on this page).

        Advantages:
        - Installs required workstation C:\ Windows files only, no program files (already on server)

        Disadvantages:
        - Need to add a desktop icon (Right click on desktop, New>Shortcut and browse to select the              system on your server, say R:\ Program Files\BB??\???.EXE).

*You cannot mix different versions on different workstations and servers.   If you already installed some of the older versions on workstations or servers, you need to stick with that version, OR, to convert everything to VFP9, by install version 9 on the server, and upgrade all workstations by clicking on the workstation install link and running the install for each workstaation).  If unsure of your version, click on "about" in the menu and note the version # you are using.

Registration
Once you decide to purchase your B+B System, you will receive an email with the registration file to download to the server folder C:\ Program Files \ BB??.  Save an extra copy in a safe location.  This file is your receipt.
